Information on ClubFeet in Black and White

Jamil Davis's Story

I was born with a right clubbed foot. I had several castings and really don't know how many operations I had.

All i know is i was in the hospital alot and wore a cast up until I was five. Dad taught me how to scracth the inside of my cast with a straw.

My sisters(all four)called me captain hook when they got mad. Sometimes it botherd me if I let it. Of course they were just acting like GIRLS! just kidding. but when i finally got my cast off i had a neatly cut up foot. so life goes on.

I'm 8 now starting to play football, chubby kid ,but so what. got good. real good and fastest on my team since 6th grade until 10th. we had some fast runners too. not only that it was an inner-city school not a small school.

everybody knew that too, but they ask me sometimes why i limped, I'll just say im sore, i knew though. i had a club foot slowpokes. sometimes i was sore after games and practice i could not walk without limping, but grinned and bared it.

popular with the lady's being the the star runningback caused a self-conscience phase in my life. I still don't wear shorts and im 29! being that one calf is bigger than the other especially since i worked on my legs alot as a runningback. some asked why some didnt, but still dressed nice so i guessed it didnt matter really. boy i hate the summertime. but this web site helped me talk a little about it.

I still take extra insoles from my other shoes to walk somewhat without a limp, but im walking. i look at my foot alot examining it,cause its mine, and think of the freedom i could have without it.

I feel pain if i walk or stand alot but other than that its working. With all of that said im still a lady's man and dress nice. most of allim still cool. hold your heads up, pants on, its not the end. and the boys(dads)can still play football, baseball, etc.

kids that goes through things like us are very inqusitive, and smart. For the simple fact that we wonder why we have a cast or why we are in the hospital so much. but dont ever tell them they cant do something. But it is one thing i cant do,thats being in hospital. i was in there by myself so much when i was little i dont care to much for it. but gotta go football game is on!

Hey there, I guess I'm no longer alone in this. I was born with a right clubbed foot. One of my calf is bigger than the other and I dont wear shorts too.
Well, above everything else I'm thankful that I can walk, run, jump, hop, etc. So life's good. That's all that matters.

Cheers to that!
