Julie Demerly's Story
My son Seth was born with bilateral clubfeet May 1995.
He was put in casts before he was 24 hours old. They did that for 3 months and then decided that was not working.
So they told me to bring him back after he tried to walk on his feet. Well my husband & I just did not feel that was right, good thing my father-in-law was in the right place at the right time, he ran into a shriner and they told us about a free clinic to take Seth too.
He was sceduled for an appointment to have his first surgery at 7 months old. That went well his feet started to turn in again so he had his 2nd surgery at 9 years old to do a tendon transfer on both feet now that was a trip.
His feet do cause him pain on a daily basis some days worse than others, he's doing ok he's played baseball for 4 years taking this year off due to testing for his black belt in karate in September. That day will definitely be a day for motrin.
He goes back to the Shriner's Hospital in September for another check-up, last time they said he might need another surgery on his left foot which is the worse one of the two. They might have to cut through the bone and move his ankle & heel where it is suppose to be. (under his leg I guess) Has anyone out there ever heard of this before? anyway I'm glad I found out about this site it has been awesome. Thanks
